Plex server in Synology NAS not recognizing new content movies

Thanks for the info.

Plex may have combined the movies with other movies with similar names.

Sort for duplicates. If you find any, you can Split Apart and Fix Match if needed (in the “three dots” menu).

Also, suggest you try the following:

Ignore embedded metadata

Plex will prefer embedded metadata in mp4 files if configured to do so. If the metadata is bad, Plex may have trouble matching the movies.

Disable (uncheck): Edit the library → Advanced → Prefer local metadata.

Rename and re-organize per Plex documentation

  • Place each movie in its own folder.
  • If you want to keep extra info in the file name, place it in a single set of square brackets after the year.
  • You can also add the TMDB/IMDB ID to the folder and file name. This tells Plex exactly which movie to match (FYI, for TV shows, use TMDB/TVDB IDs).

Example:

/Peliculas <-- Folder added to movie library
  /Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
    /Miracle on 34th Street (1947).mp4
    /Miracle on 34th Street (1947).srt
  /The Miracle Season (2018)
    /The Miracle Season (2018) [1080p.AAC.etc.].mp4
  /The Four Feathers (1939) {imdb-tt0031334}
    /The Four Feathers (1939) {imdb-tt0031334}.mkv
    /The Four Feathers (1939) {imdb-tt0031334}.srt

Plex Dance

After renaming and reorganizing, you may need to Plex Dance the movie. This clears out bad matching information in the Plex Media Server database.
