Can someone help me? I just upgraded from 1.12 (because it was crashing once in a while). Now 1.19 crashes on start up. I can’t even run the media server anymore.
What can I do to fix this? I restarted physically as well
My plex server has been messed up all week long.
When I try to access settings it says unavailable. It keeps crashing, giving errors, and disappearing from the system tray. It’s driving me mad. I have tried rolling back versions, but the issues still happen. Someone said it could be caused from a recent windows update, but uninstalling that same update did nothing to solve my issue.
I have never had so much trouble with plex and I have been using plex for several years.
How do you roll back versions? I am looking to get previous versions of plex but I can’t for some reason
I did a google for older plex versions then uninstalled my plex from programs and installed the different versions. I think I used filehorse, but I made sure to deny the other stuff it wanted to install like a virus scanner.
This whole situation is driving me insane. I am about ready to completely reinstall windows on my PC. I really rather not have to do this.
I ended up doing the following:
Uninstall Plex
Backup AND DELETE the plex data folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server
Restart
Install latest plex version
Copy only the Media & Metadata folder back from the backup into the newly created data folder.
That seemed to have fixed it for me.
I wish I had copied the backup metadata. Oh well, I will be fetching data for a while.
