Hello,
I have been having trouble lately with movies and home videos in various libraries. It seems that every video file I have added to Plex after August 3, either can’t be seen (home video files) or can be seen by the server, but, it cannot be played.
I tried playing the video on Plex player (Player Version#:8.23.1 (6601)) on Apple TV and get this response:
Unavailable Media
The Plex Media Server can’t find or access the media file for this library item at the expected location
I also tried playing them on the server mac and get this response:
Playback Error
An error occured trying to play: (specific video file)
Error code: s1001 (Network)
I am running my server on an old cheese grater mac running on Mac OS 10.13.6 High Sierra.
At first I saw that adding home video files to a library, where many other home videos were, couldn’t be seen by Plex. I was able to play the other home video files but the new video couldn’t be seen by Plex. I tried creating a new library with all of the home videos and NONE can be see, (I thought that could fix the problem).
I also had movie and TV files that were added to my movie and TV libraries and it was recognized, posters, plot summaries etc were there, but, they could not be played.
The Plex server is frequently updated and I did update it this week and my new hunch is that’s what’s causing these problems. After looking at the settings I realized that the update was set to Beta and I have now changed that to Public.
Is there a solution to this problem? Should I downgrade to the former server version? If so, could you give me instructions to do so? After upgrading/replacing hard drives, making sure Plex works properly can take a while.
