Ok, I’ve downloaded and installed new version and received claim number.
Did you complete the upgrade (without claim token) from 1.21.0-3744 to current PMS first ?
Then, after that was complete,
- Uninstall Only (KEEP) option
- Install same package again (Now get claim token)
- Paste token in box
- Install
- Observe your name when install is complete.
- In a Private Window, Open the Syno by it’s LAN IP this ONE TIME ONLY.
( http://lan.ip.of.syno:32400/web ) - Ignore the “not hosted” warning. Keep going
- Sign in.
- Verify your server is back
- Close the tab and go back to using PMS normally.
We do this in two steps because:
-
When moving / upgrading an older version to current, the total elapsed time usually exceeds 5 minutes.
-
The claim token is only valid for 5 minutes; starting the second it is displayed.
So we really only have a 4 minute window -
Upgrading and installing will almost guaranteed take more time than that.
@ChuckPa To clarify I did the uninstall only option then reinstalled and did the claim option as you mentioned above on a different PC than i used this morning.
When I did it earlier today after I tried all the options listed in this forum i went down the route of deleting all the folders and tried to set everything up as a new server as got pretty annoyed that i couldnt get it working so decided to start from scratch but nothing was working so reached out here.
Now that its working, It may have been down to the PC i was using as it uses a VPN. The PC I tried successfully this evening wasn’t on a VPN so maybe this was blocking it.
Either way its back up and all good
VPNs and Plex do not play well together.
Plex’s decoupled nature (Plex/web vs Server) don’t cross VPN boundaries well because broadcast packets don’t cross subnet boundaries (which VPNs will create inside the VPN adapter)
Hi, I have DSM 7.1-40000 installed and manually installed the correct spk and edited the permissions on my synology for the plex. I am still unable to see my library when signed into my plex account and I can’t add or delete anything either.
You have the initial release of DSM 7.1 beta installed ?
DSM 7.0 began at 7.0-40000
Please check Control Panel - Info Center
I’m back up. Thanks for your help.
I followed all the steps posted by you, including getting the token to install the new spk. At step #13, I couldn’t access PMS on my Synology. When I go to an incognito tab and enter my local NAS address:32400/web, I get the following error:
"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
Response code=“503” title=“Maintenance” status=“PMS is currently running startup maintenance tasks.”
I’m not sure what startup maintenance tasks the Plex could possibly be running. Is this normal? Is it syncing behind the scenes?
FYI: I’m running DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4 on a Synology NAS DS918+
I welcome any additional fixes or tips you can offer. Thanks.
Here is what I have installed. It does not mention Beta:
DSM 7.1-42661 Update 4
See what it says? PMS is currently performing maintenance.
That’s something new Engineering added / adding (and a bit clunky)
It’s a “503” (Temporarily Not Available)
If you wait until the NAS CPU calms down again, Retry and the Web app will load.
It surprised me too ![]()
Thank you. That makes much more sense.
All versions of the Synology DSM 7 spk have the ability to reclaim PMS built into the package itself.
Please follow the steps here.
Okay, I did that for a second time now and it says it worked on my Synology. I opened the plex media server from synology and it is a copmpletely different library then the one I had before and has none of my movies in it. How do i get what I lost back and my old library, or create a new one to access my disk station where everything is stored?
Please check your PM
Yes, I let it run overnight and was able to get in now. All my libraries are there. Thanks for your help.
