Plex server no option to add library

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8120-7000

Player Version#:

Wondering if somebody knows a thing or two about Synology Nas DS920+. I had an older Nas that ended up goosed think it was the DS415+ but anyway Plex worked on that without any bother at all. With this one my libraries started of fine but totally disappeared and when I try to reinstall Plex the option for the libraries aren’t there. All I have is the plus sign under film banner where it asks me download the server again, which I’ve already done.
I’m not the sharpest knife in the box when it comes to problem solving I’ve been trying for quite sometime now to fix this and each time I have to walk away then come back but I just don’t get it. I miss Plex it’s always been great for sound and would really appreciate it if someone had the time to try and sort this for me.

Also I have just noticed that I have Plex on my iPad app where Synology was the old machine Ds415+ but my username was Josey44. I can still log into this. Could that be affecting my new Synology DS920+ because my Username is Josey45 now because I changed it when I got a shiny new Plex Pass lol.
I was going to delete the Username Josey44 but wasn’t sure if I’d need any information that might be useful.

I’ll presume, given a DS920+, you’re using DSM 7.

Based on this, what you’re describing sounds like it got disassociated (unclaimed) from your account.

To resolve this:

  1. Uninstall the package with the KEEP (first radio button) option
  2. Install the same package again – HOWEVER –
  3. Select the “Install using Plex Claim Token” option
  4. Click the link which get’s a claim token
  5. COPY the given token into your browser and then paste back in the Installation window
  6. Click NEXT - NEXT - DONE and let it finish
  7. If successful, you’ll see it claimed again for your username.
  8. All will be well again

Thanks for the quick reply and trying to help me that’s brilliant mate. Yes running DSM 7. Just want to check with you when you say the first radio button what does that mean, only when I click on the left panel INSTALLED Plex is the first option so I click on that and it says stop or uninstall, I click uninstall then the next page asks if I’m sure I want to uninstall. It’s just I never seen the KEEP option you were saying so thought I’d double check.

This option. It’s the first “Plex” menu after DSM asks about uninstalling.

Managed it and after it downloaded says successfully connected to Josey45 so that worked ok but it won’t open. Says Safari cant open the page because it can’t connect to the server.

Did it tell you it’s claimed ?

Can you open http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web in your browser ?

If this doesn’t start,

Open FileStation
Go into PlexMediaServer / AppData / Plex Media Server
right-click “Logs” → “Compress to Logs.zip”

then download it and attach it here

Yes said it was claimed by Josey45
Also didn’t open when put it in browser with :32400
I’m on the iPad so I’ll boot up my laptop to send the files over

Logs.zip (1.0 MB)

Hope I sent that file over ok I’m not the fastest but fingers crossed it was ok.
Thanks for helping tonight with trying to get Plex up and running for me it’s greatly appreciated

@Josey45

You originally stated 1.40.1 server version

The log files you send me show 1.29.2

You can’t switch from using Manual Install of 1.40.1 to Package Center 1.29.2
They are incompatible as of 1.40.0

You can try to Manual Install 1.40.1 again

If it still fails then you’ll need to use FileStation and follow this procedure to copy one of the backups and make it the ‘current’ database

Thanks ChuckPa for your help that’s me now able to see my L Plex library absolutely brilliant. I did what you said I reinstalled the correct server version this time 1.40.1 and bingo.
Before I could do that though I had lost my Network so had to get that back first not sure if that was a result of me installing the wrong server and corrupting it but all is great now.

Thanks again ChuckPa
