I’m running an always online DELL OptiPLEX SFF Windows 10 with the PLEX Server (Version 1.15.1.710 ) behind a FRITZ!Box 7590 with a 250/40 Mbit/s Line. Port Forwarding is on Auto and it connects.
Okay, that state is fine. When I don’t use plex at home but travelling around and try to access it says “server unavailable”. When I then use VPN & RDP to my DELL and check the status it is “Remote access” and red warning sign against it in the settings menu. As soon as I click on “Remote Access” it turns green and I can use PLEX (with no VPN) over the Internet.
I have a Plex Pass and I really would like to have the feature reliable.
I also tried fixed port forwarding, with same “success”.
Mine also shows red when I check Remote Access for a split second then turn green even when at home. What client are you using when away from home and have you tried other clients (browser, mobile, PMP) while not on your network? Also see the link below. https://support.plex.tv/articles/200931138-troubleshooting-remote-access/
hello I’m new to this forum and I’m having issues trying to set up remote access
i would like to have someone look at my account to see what I’m doing wrong
I’m not sure if its a setting in my server or firewall.
It is a Smart TV at a friends home. So he can not watch anything from my library. he sends me a message, I go to the setting screen. He re-starts his Smart TV Plex app and it is working for him again. But that is not an ideal solution. It should work from outside with no issues or manual doing anything everytime.
Try the link below which is where I posted some pics before on a similar topic. The server device should be setup with a static IP address via the router. So when ever it gets rebooted, it will be assigned the same address. @lelei33 on your pic under manually specify public port, need to put the external port in there, check the box and hit apply and to be safe restart the server to properly save the changes.
Hey @Busaman_VA I appreciate your help. The Plex server has a fixed IP and it is not that it isn’t working at all. It just need me logging in my plex console and go to that screen. So the portforwarding itself works regardless of manual Port, automatic or DMZ. It just doesn’t seem to keep it alive.
I think it would need some one from PLEX to look at the logs.
