Plex server running but not loading on devices

I Run Plex on a computer as a virtual machine in Linux Ubuntu server and I have all the resources referenced through a windows SMB, I have not had much problems until recent when in the mornings and seemingly only in the mornings plex is in-responsive on all my Tv’s and mobile devices.
I know the server is still running because I can see it on the VM, and I can see the web interface. but the apps will not load anything.

the other odd time it will respond very slow and refuse to playback any content. I have tried rebooting the VM to see if it clears anything up which sometimes works and other times does nothing.
it is completely sporadic. and I cannot figure out what is causing it.
if anyone has experienced anything like this or has any suggestions I would love to hear. as it is somewhat annoying when you want to use it and for no justifiable reason doesn’t want to work.

thank you.
and love this product.

If the apps do not see the server then that could be different from apps seeing the server but loading library content slowly

Why not first get some server logs - ensure debug logging enabled. Restart the server anyway and then try to connect from other devices. you could also try plex web in a browser on these devices that have issues - eg using safari and chrome to go to http://server-local-ip-address:32400/web

also try to sign out and sign in within the apps on the devices

I have just rebooted the VM t, I am watching the resources rite now using top, which doesn’t look like the VM is being over
cumbered.
Devices affected,

Samsung smart TV series prior to tiegan
Sony Android smart TV.
Samsung Galaxy S8

I have tried as far as.
logging out of device, and logging back in.
deleting the app and re-installing it.
rebooting server and trying above mentioned methods.
sometimes things go back to working and other times it will be unresponsive for an hour than start working.
I usually always still have access via web interface and can access all items and controls.

Logs show server was running Apr 10, 2018 20:43:15 up to Apr 11, 2018 19:14:04 when you rebooted it
It shows the restart at Apr 11, 2018 19:14:24 and logs captured one minute later at 19:15:40

The server is on local IP 192.168.50.101

In that 1 minute since re-launch, I can see this device communicating with the server ok

192.168.50.110

Response times for loading the dashboard were very good - 683 ms being slowest request
These requests were using your server admin account

I can also see a request from Microsoft Edge using the public IP and routing back to the server through the gateway address

I think 192.168.50.110 was probably also from Microsoft Edge

Looking at the 23 hour session before the reboot, there was connection from 192.168.50.111with managed user AWAY making requests to the server between and 12:47-12:48 and after that switching to managed user Girls up to 18:59. With managed user girls there was playback to BRAVIA 4K GB Sony TV running Android

I can see playback from 12:51:24 to 13:12:24
and later

You need to say what the issue was and exactly when and when connecting from what. Your title of the thread is not loading on devices - this contradicts what I am seeing

the problem as stated is not consistent.
this morning, I went to activate content at 7:30 am. I had to reboot the tv to get it to see the plex server as it indicated that the server wasn’t there.
after restarting the Tv it loaded fine.

last Friday I wanted to watch a movie on the Samsung TV, and it just would not playback.
I tried a few times and then just quit.

I will document the next time it fails to playback content. typically it happens in the morning on the bravia 4k tv and sometimes rebooting the Tv doesn’t cure the issue.

The logs you provided did not show any connectivity issue on the server side

You need to break down the problems into separate issues and target specific diagnostics for each and know exactly what was not working and when and take the diagnostics at that time.
If there is an issue with a device plex app not finding the server then would also need to get logs from the app as well as the server

And you should eliminate issues that are outside plex first. For example if the device cannot see the server and needs a reboot - then check out it network connectivity by trying to ping the ip address of the device from the server

Also if the device has a browser capability - try to also test connection to the server in that browser to http://local-ip-of-server:32400/web
