Plex media server on Synology DS920+ NAS. Problem exists pre and post updating to the latest version of PMS. The server is not visible to any players. Even when I launch the web interface from within the package on my NAS the server settings and any library content on the server are invisible.
I’ve tried stop/starting the package, I’ve tried restarting the NAS. If I sign out in the web interface and then launch it again I get a message “This application is at [IP address] and is not hosted by Plex. Continue only if you recognise this server and wish to grant access.” I’m then prompted to sign in, but still the same - not even any server settings presented.
I found a help article regarding having to reclaim a server following the recent mandatory password reset. I followed those instructions and reset my password while force signing out of any logged-in devices. After doing this I was prompted to ‘claim’ the server, however after clicking on ‘claim’ it spun for a while but then didn’t work (the screen stayed unchanged with the option to claim still presented). I tried clicking ‘claim’ a number of times. I gave up on that yesterday thinking that perhaps it wasn’t working because I didn’t have the latest version of the server.
I did the server update today but now it’s back to square one - the same behaviour described above. Then I found This support article and followed those instructions. Didn’t work - same behaviour still.
Dan,
I see you have QuickConnect enabled. The reconfigures DSM now. (makes a mess)
The quick way out of this:
Uninstall the package using the Keep (first) option.
Reinstall the same SPK file again
– Click the “New or Lost” servers (Plex Claim Token method)
– Click the hyperlink to Get Plex Claim Token
– COPY from the new browser tab
– PASTE back into the form’s window
– NEXT NEXT DONE (and let it install)
If successful, it will show Claimed by: YourPlexUsername
Now you can use it as you see fit with or without QuickConnect.
I followed those steps (successfully, including the ‘claimed by:..’ message) but end up with the same behaviour. When I launch the web interface it’s just the same with no local media and no server related setting options. Again I tried siging out and back in and the same message in relation to the server.
is plex/web telling you (read it carefully) “is not hosted by Plex” (not a Plex.tv video server).
Plex/web is only providing this to you because the URL it now has (Quick Connect) is unexpected and asking “Are you sure this is the right server?” – anti-phishing check.
Since it is your server , keep going.
Plex/web will remember that.
You have both ethernet adapters plugged in.
Both have IP addresses on the same LAN. This is incorrect configuration.
Notice, you’ve called out for 192.168.1.25 but PMS has 192.168.1.16 as the primary.

Need you to pick one to unplug – OR – bond them together as one adapter
( Control Panel - Network ) and manually set the IP address.
By bonding them, you create one interface from the two. If you have switches capable of handling this then it will automatically engage and give you up to 2 Gbps total throughput (1 Gbps/host max)
OK thanks very much. It didn’t occur to me that might be the problem as it has been working fine like that for over a year. I designated one IP in Roon and a different one in Plex thinking that would avoid any issues of bandwidth if both were being used at the same time. I’ll disconnect one of them as my switch is limited to 1GBPS.
