Plex Media Server Logs_2019-07-07_10-49-52.zip (1.6 MB)
I’ve been having a pretty persistent issue regarding playback to my chromecast devices (Google Home and Chromecast) from Plex. Whenever I start casting something, it will send to the device for about 30sec-1min, then go totally silent.
Playback won’t actually stop on the server, it just hangs for a really long time (6-8 minutes) then repeats the cycle.
I recently moved, and starting using my roommate’s router instead of my own, so I realized I needed to do some port forwarding, which initially seemed to fix the issue… Except for the fact that I was totally unable to cast some videos to my chromecast - this time seemingly for an entirely different issue.
Checking logs the issue seems to be a general windows 10054 server error
After going through a long process of factory resetting my Chromecast, doing a rollback on my Plex server, getting a different error, then updating the server back to the most recent version, I’m having the same exact issue I started with. (Also, a healthy amount of server and PC restarting)
I thought since it was a server issue, maybe the problem was still dealing with ports.
So I additionally went ahead and opened up ports on my firewall, just for Plex - still no success
The only thing that seemed to work was completely turning off my firewall (which is windows defender) which I would like to avoid having to do if possible.
Can anybody help me figure out what I’m doing wrong? I am totally stumped by this.
