Wow if they are going to delete the cure for this stuff up then provide a file site of previous versions to help people. At least remove from the download site the faulty version.

The one you should grab if you are going backwards to temp fix this would be the public release if you are wanting something official. I can see why they delete the links. Times like this would be perfect to infect people with a virus. They cannot control the source.

standing by…

I came to find where to download build 1846; bummer there’s no official way to pull an older version…

On Synology DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 2, you cannot downgrade from the latest beta build that is giving everyone issues, 1.18.0.1892-6887070bc to the previous build, 1.18.0.1846-f62172e99 … You get the error "Current package version is 1.18.0.1892-6887070bc. You cannot downgrade it to the older version 1.18.0.1846-f62172e99"

Hey guys,

1.18.0.1892 has been taken down due to the startup issue (related to permissions)
1.18.0.1846 has been restored as the current Beta release.

We are working to correct the issue, and will provide a new 1.18.0 when this issue is resolved.

Uninstall the package, reboot then install the old one, should get you back up and going.

Thanks, I wasn’t sure if uninstalling would leave the /volume1/Plex directory intact (because I never had to uninstall it before on my Synology NAS)… thanks for the tip!

Yep always feels bad uninstalling a package like that… Gives me the heeby jeebys knowing how much work it took to get my library all cleaned up lol…

Luckily nothing lost thanks to how the package works.

BTW, I didn’t have to reboot my Synology NAS, just uninstalled, made sure no plex related processes hung around ā€œps -aux | grep plexā€ from an ssh connection / command line, and reinstalled the package to get back on previous betas: 1.18.0.1846-f62172e99

To explain why you can do version changes on Synology so easily:

  1. The PMS software is stored in the DSM ā€œAppstoreā€ (you may see the @AppStore on /volume1 if you go browsing)
  2. Your metadata is stored in /volume/Plex by default.
  3. When the package uninstalls, I make certain to leave your data where it is.
  4. When the new package installs, I go looking for the Plex share (even if on another volume) and use it.
  5. Your metadata is only actually referenced the moment PMS starts.
  6. When PMS is stopped, you could move the Plex share to another volume and, provided you keep all the permissions correct, move your metadata there. PMS itself wouldn’t know or care.

I am getting the same error, Tried downloading the previous, ā€œcannot downgradeā€ā€¦Now that Plex is not running how will i know when there is an update as it was on the Banner while starting Plex…

@ChuckPa , thanks for the detail !!! Like @iced98lx stated, uninstalling packages on Synology without knowing that level of details always makes be hesitant because I experienced 3rd party package uninstalls that have deleted the package configs along with the package binaries itself. It worked out for PMS in this case, I was able to downgrade to the last beta, and get back up and running. Thanks again guys!

@nwstewart59

Uninstall the package first. Synology doesn’t allow downgrading.

Your data is safe. Promise!

Thanks …

Has anyone tried v1.18.0.1900 yet? Is it safe?
