Plex Server update 1.21.1.3876 crashes when Shield connects to it

My plex server will crash when any app connects to up after the update which I did about 1 hour ago. As soon as my Nvidia Shield connects it crashes Plex on my Synology NAS. Been working fine until tonight. I can watch on my PC using Chrome browser without issues. Mobile app on Android will also crash Plex. I’ve rebooted my Nas but it doesn’t help.

Plex app version on shield, can’t tell but it’s updated to the latest.
App on Android phones will also crash the server. App is updated to latest on my phone. App version is 8.11.0.22186

Similar issue here, but with PMS running on both Shield and DS218+. Shield runs PMS OK, but starting PMS on my DS218+ stops PMS on the Shield. I can use PMP on the shield to use media on the DS218+, though. Likewise, DS218+ runs PMS OK, but starting PMS on the Shield stops PMS on the DS218+. I was running PMS 1.21.1.3830 on the Shield and PMS 1.21.1.3876 on the DS218+. I uninstalled PMS on the DS218+ and then installed 1.21.1.3830 so they would be at the same level, but the issue continues.

Clients running on phones, Rokus, or W10 PCs do not cause these crashes.

I’ve been trying to help track this down by reproducing it.

I have an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 , Shield Experience 8.2, and cannot reproduce.

If I could reproduce it, I would hunt it down.

LAN is single segment.
Plex.Direct domain overlay is allowed.

Any suggestions?

I figured out a solution to my issue. I had to delete all the shared user accounts, remove the authorized devices and resend the invites to everyone. I also signed out of all apps and after that I am not running into issues anymore.

Video on plex freezes after a while after upgrading to 1.21.1.3876. Tried on sony tv and also on NVidia shield. Any inputs? thanks

Freeze != Crash.

“Me too” doesn’t help resolve.

  1. Logs ZIP file (DEBUG, not VERBOSE logging)
  2. Have you tried any of the other responses?

My environment

NAS - Synology 220+
DSM version - 6.2.3 update 3
Streamers tried - Nvidia shield (not latest), Sony Tv Xc90h

Please recreate the event. The only thing I see in your logs is all 5 log files full of “Throttled” messages because you’ve exceeded the autotagging quota for the month.

After recreating, Please wait 2 minutes and download the logs before that information is overwritten.

I think I’m having the same issue as described I’ve exacted my logs but this results in a 500+MB zip file, the biggest offender is “Plex (anonymous).log” which is ~350MB. I assume i’m good to move all the logs to a different folder (just encase) and plex will recreate everything it needs?

The logs, when zipped, should be about 5 MB – unless you’ve made a change to how many log files are retained. The default value for LogNumFiles="5".

Are you sure you downloaded the Logs or might you have downloaded the database?
