Plex Settings Still Alive After Factory Reset & DSM Re-install

So I reset my DS218+ today which wiped the DSM install and re-installed it. But for some reason, once I re-installed Plex Media Server, all my movie libraries and settings are still there. I thought the only way to keep those settings is if you install a new version of PMS on top of an existing one. How is it that they are still there after a wipe of DSM? I saw no “plex” folder on file station after the wipe. Not sure where it could have been stored.

I keep the software and your metadata (Library) in separate places to allow you the freedom to change versions easily.

To completely remove everything and start over from scratch

  1. Uninstall package
  2. Control Panel - Shared Folders - Delete the Plex share
  3. Control Panel - Users - Delete user Plex
  4. Restart
