Plex Shows Files as Unavailable but they Arent and Play Just Fine?

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4282
Player Version#: NA

Plex is showing numerous shows with a garbage can icon on them usually meaning they are unavailable. But they arent. Ideas on the fix? Almost like the DB becomes corrupt?

This usually happens when PMS lost connection (for whatever reason) to the media at a level above there the actual media is (e.g. Can’t get to /nas/movies to read /nas/movies/Title (Year) ).

Are the ones which are missing in a different directory (location) ?

Nothing is missing, and Ive run a couple of scans and new stuff is picked up fine, and if I go play any of “The Great North” files they all play just fine.

I do have some where files were upgraded from 720 to 1080 which is normal, but I dont want to run “Empty Trash” and have it delete half my library because plex has it incorrectly marked as unavailable when its clearly not lol. I press play it plays.

Like is there a magic button I can press so it can “sense” the file is there again?

I was able to navigate the full path via the add path to library:

Have you clicked “Analyze” to upgrade the media information ( after replacing a 720p with a 1080 )?

Given where you have them (in your home directory), are you 100% certain the missing files have the same 755/644 permissions as the others?

Im less concerned with the upgraded ones, as thats fine, it shows the 720 one unavailable the 1080 on as available (The icon would be removed once I deleted trash I get that). Im more concerned with all the other random issues like:

Too Close:
Plex Says the Season is Unavailable

But Every file in the season isnt:

Or The Great North, it says the episodes are unavailable but you press more info and its says its available. A Scan wont fix, analyze does nothing, plex meta dance does nothing. My “test” box see them all fine and not unavailable, it seems like this instance the box was running a scan, then in the middle of said scan storage dropped for a moment or something, and now plex has a bunch of stuff randomly unavailable that arent really, and the only way I know to fix would be to restore the DB with a known good version, or I press empty trash, it removes tens of thousands of records from the db and I need to do a full scan again.

I’ve found that Refresh Metadata will clear up a lot of the ones which get in this state.

It might take a few cycles (scan / refresh). It depends on the what the DB has internally.

I agree, once you empty the trash, those which were superseded will straighten out.

“Scan Library Files”

Did you figure this out? I’m on the same version and having the same issue. Wondering if it’s a bug with this version.

Nope, still happens, nothing seems to fix it but clearing the Deleted At date in the sql lite db.
