Plex shows more movies than are in my movies folder?

Using Linux Mint 19 and the latest version of PMS.

When I go into my ‘Movie’ library in Plex, it shows that I have 1,722 titles.

When I go into /mnt/md0/Movies, I show 1,717 folders (each movie is in a separate folder).

Up until recently, I was running Mint 18.3. I backed up my database, blew away the OS and installed Mint 19. Then, I restored my database and that is when I noticed the discrepancy. I went into Plex and filtered by duplicates and none were found. I used WebTool’s “Find Media” option and it says all media is present and accounted for. Trash is set to empty on scans.

How do I track down the 5 movies that Plex thinks I have that aren’t actually there? Or what can cause this?

New update. If I go into Plex/Movies and select ‘By folder’, Plex shows 1,717 movies. Still trying to figure it out though …

Maybe the 5 additional items are Collections.

If the number of items goes down as well when you change the library sorting away from ‘by Title’, then I’m pretty sure it is Collections.

@OttoKerner BINGO! Inside a single folder, I had multiple copies (Director’s Cut, Theatrical, etc) of Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind). Less folders in Linux but more Movies in Plex.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
