Does it only affect DTS HD MA and TrueHD tracks?
DTS, AC3 and EAC3 appears to be ok. Havenāt tested anything else. Issue occurs with DTS-HD and trueHD more often but I havenāt done extensive testing.
Iām having this issue on every title I play. It was happening with AAC and AC3. It even happens at different bitrates. The titles with AAC audio were episodes of a TV in standard definition. The title with AC3 is a 1080p movie.
Happens to me too. Win10, Win7, Chrome and FF. When I play on the same machine in IE itās fine.
Weird no? Anyone found a solution this yet?
Iām getting this on what I assume is the same content as Draco32. Only one audio stream in any of the files as far as I can tell.
I just started seeing this problem as well. The videos in question are all high bit rate Blu-ray tips that were converted to MKV files using makemkv. All are H264 with a variety of audio streams. All movies play just fine on my TV via a ROKU player with the PLEX channel. All files play fine on the PC with VLC. I have not tried PLEX web player in IE yet. Anyone have any ideas on what is going on? I am running win10 with latest patches.
Also, the windows Plex application (PMP) works fine with the same videos. Itās just the web player skipping.
Just stopping by to mention this is happening to me also, Win 10 on the latest (as of writing) plex server/client using the chrome web-player.
Iām also having this issue. Anything with a bit rate of about 30MB/s+ will skip. It doesnāt matter which audio source is selected. This only happens in the web player.

Yup, Chrome player on Mac OS, same thing.
Same, though it only seems to happen with shorter videos for me.
Hey. I just noticed skipping on Chrome (macOS) today when playing Avengers: Endgame (30mbps bitrate) with TrueHD audio. Plex was naturally transcoding the audio to AAC Stereo. When I switched to the DD 5.1 audio track, the skipping stopped. I then went and played other 20mbps+ movies with TrueHD audio and the skipping manifested in them as well. However, when I played movies below the 20mbps bitrate with TrueHD audio, the movies did not skip.
Mind you this is just in Chrome (macOS). I have not witnessed any skipping on any bitrate or audio in any of the native players that I use (Plex Media Player for Windows, Plex Media Player for macOS, Plex for Android TV, Plex for iOS, Plex for Chromecast).
Interestingly, I tried Safari with the 20mbps+ and TrueHD movies and witnessed no skipping.
I am seeing this the past few days as well on a Samsung Tv playing off my computer/server locally. Has anyone found a fix to this yet?
Hi.
I had the same issue with the version 1.16.4.1469-6d5612c2f.
I downgraded to 1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2.
Now i have no problem with skipping.

Can confirm - downgrading from 1.16.4.1469 to 1.16.3.1402 seems to have fixed it for me.
Regardless of bitrate I had two Samsung tvs that were skipping ahead frequently on every video, from 30 seconds to 15 minutes (QNAP server, all H.264 and H.265 mkvs).
Upgraded last night and was suffering the same issues despite fiddling with the server settings. Mobile was fine but Samsung telly was suffering from heavy digital artifacts, picture distortion and was skipping from a few seconds up to 15 minutes. Downgrading works. Thanks for the tips.
Uninstalling from control panel and reinstalling the previous release does not affect your library or any other settings. Nice and simple.
Also confirming, going from 1.16.5.x (latest on website) to 1.16.3.1402 fixed it for my skipping issues on Ubuntu. My client was Samsung Plex TV app.
You can find this release here.
wget https://downloads.plex.tv/plex-media-server-new/1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2/debian/plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb
dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.16.3.1402-22929c8a2_amd64.deb
I have PMS scheduled with auto updates and starting to rethink that as a valid option with this kind of stability.
Confirmed, it also happened to me in a Samsung Smart TV client, I downgraded to 1.16.3.1402 and it worked.
Thank you very much for the link.
Plex, as a solution to these problems, should publish earlier versions on its website.
Also confirmed. With 1.16.4 via Samsung Tizen App all movies (4k HEVC, 1080 HEVC, 1080 h264) with ACTIVATED DTS were skipping forward every few seconds, which resulted in buffering and stuttering. Unwatchable. Deactivating DTS in Plex resulted in audio transcoding and the problem was gone.
Reverted back to Ubuntu Plex server 1.16.3 and not all DTS audio is woring again without skipping and stuttering.
Thats for the tipps!
