I recently lost my storage NAS and all my video files. I decided to create my entire Plex setup from scratch on a new server. New install of Ubuntu 20.04 and new install of Plex. Plex is still showing all my old TV and Movies that were lost on my old server. I not sure how that info got onto the new server. I’m assuming it’s cached on a plex.tv server and got pushed down? I want Plex to only show what I have on the new server. I’ve rescanned the libraries and emptied the trash multiple times but the wont go away. How do I get Plex to only show what actually exists on the disk?
Can you please share a screenshot of how those old items are still showing in your library?
Unless you migrated the old server data directory, there should be no such “shadows”. The only thing I can imagine is your old libraries still being pinned (but considered offline, not accessible)…
There is only one server listed and it is the new one. Which is the same name as the old one but I know it’s the new one because it shows 20.04 LTS. (Old server was on CentOS 7). Also because the old server is not even on.
I also did reset defaults in the web app and no change.

We don’t store any info about the content on users servers so am confused as you right now.
Were they there as soon as you completed the install or did they get added a short while later. Is the entire movie library your old movies. or did you create a new library and add a movie library with some new things then all you old movies got added to it.
I setup the new server completely standalone. I booted plex up for the first time and logged into my account. At that time the new server was called plex and the old server was still online called ct_plex. I could see both servers on my web app with the new plex server having no libraires.
Next , I shut down the old ct_plex server. I changed the name of the new server from plex to ct_plex and updated the ip to the one of the old server had so that all the firewall and routing would stay the same. Rebooted and when I went into the web app I could see two servers available both called ct_plex at first. I thought I needed to delete the old one. But, when I went to remove it from authorized servers, there was only the new one listed. Then, I checked the side bar and there was only one ct_plex. It’s like it thought they were the same server and merged the libraires.
I think I have it sorted out. I deleted the libraries. When I recreated them only the actual videos on the disk came in. I also noticed this Merge setting was checked before. Not sure if that was related.
