A couple days ago my plex server upgraded and everything seems to work fine except now when I add movies when I click a actors picture it wont show me any other movies that I have with that actor in it. Older movies that were added before the upgrade still show the actors other movies.
For example, if I add a movie with Joan Crawford today, then go to that movies info page and click her picture, it only shows THAT movie. If I go to another movie that was added before the server upgraded with her in it and click on her picture it shows me all the other movies I have with her in it minus the new one. This is happening with every movie since the server upgraded.
Can anyone help me fix this?
I’m having the same issue.
Try refreshing your entire library.
I did a smaller test on a few movies and it worked. This was based on information found elsewhere on the forum.
Refreshing metadata didn’t do anything for me, even if it did I think when more movies are added they would have the same problem.
—Edit
I optimized the database and that seemed to fix it, i wonder if when I add stuff I’ll have to do it again. We shall see
I just added some more movies and it does the same thing, makes me re-optimize the database
something is wrong with the server since the upgrade making me have to optimize the database every time I add new movies to get the actor list to function properly
I can also confirm this. I just added a new movie, clicked on various actors, and the only movie that comes up is the movie I just added. Same behavior clicking on the director. Optimizing the database fixes it. Running the latest beta server version 1.25.1.5286, web client version 4.70.
This was definitely caused by upgrading to PMS 1.25.0.5282 for Windows and/or upgrading to Web Client 4.70.0 as I never experienced it until just doing the upgrade this morning. But I am now running into the exact same issue as you guys have described it, and yes only running an Optimize Database seemed to fix it. But running the Optimize Database procedure after every single time you add a movie is not a logistically feasible fix, so hopefully they’ll figure out the problem soon.
Thanks for the information, I’ll see what happens the next time I add some movies to mine as well.
Hopefully we can get some official word on this too.
I added a new movie and am NOT seeing the problem with the actors in this movie. I will continue to monitor.
For the record, I only refreshed the metadata of my entire Movies library before adding this movie and have not yet optimize the database ether before or after adding the new movie.
I am also running v1.25.0.5282 on Windows, and encountered the same issue with newly added movies. I added 2 movies today, and both had actors who are in other movies in my library. But clicking on the actor in the newly added movie only showed the title that was just added. Also when doing a search for these actors in Plex, the actors showed up twice. After optimizing the database, the duplicate actor entries disappeared and they only show up once. As a scheduled task (which I do have enabled), optimizing the database only happens on a weekly basis. Hopefully the devs will resolve this issue soon.
This worked, it took like 2 hours to do my whole collection (it’s HUGE), but it worked and new stuff is showing actors correctly along with the old stuff
