Hello, I’m having lots of problems with the plex app on vidaa with a Hisense tv.
When I try to play any video, stored on my server, with a resolution from 720p to 1080p, the app gets frozen or forces closing with a message that says “There is insufficient memory. The app will be stopped.”
I don’t know why it happens because with other apps I’m able to play content with higher bitrates and up to 4k and it doesn’t happen.
Apparently something has changed and now it has worked for me with an h264 movie without the app closing.
But now with several movies tested h265 (direct play without transcoding) and low bitrates (between 2000 kbps and 4000 kbps) appear various playback errors, image stuttering or image with green spots.
The solution to the latter has been to lower a quality point in the reproduction and thus force the server to transcode from h265 to h264.
Well, nothing, any direct play keeps failing. With h264 after a few minutes “Not enough memory. The application will stop." And also with image errors with h265.
What is outrageous is the lack of response from some “Plex Employee” at least saying that they are studying it or working on it …
Or at least they don’t advertise VIDAA support, that would save us trouble.
@markus101 hear us please You are making a nice work with the Plex app for Vidaa but it has to improve som things to make it usable.
The plex Vidaa app needs to correct the bugs and improve its direct play and direct stream to make it usable.
The two issues here (HEVC artifacts and Out of Memory crashing) are things we’ve previously reported to Hisense as platform issues, we’ve reached out again to see if there is an update to these problems.
It appears these are both direct play issues and disabling direct play (which will fall back to direct streaming or transcoding), in video settings of the Plex app should work around the issue for the time being; this isn’t a solution, but merely a work around.
If you can share the model numbers of the TVs you’re using that will help Hisense determine if it’s limited to specific models.
Hi @markus101 thanks for the reply.
I’ve the Hisense ULED TV uhd H50U7QF 50″
Is there any way to contact hisense from the community to see if we can do a bit of pressure so they solve it faster?
I have an LG, same problem. Could Plex please tell us what this means? Is it a Plex problem or TV manufacturer problem? WIll it ever be fixed by either? Or do we need to buy new TVs!!!
Thanks
I have the same problem “There is insufficient memory. The app will be stopped.” + shredded green image. I can’t use the built-in plex app at all.
Hisense 50u7qf
it is not the fault of the TV but the plex application, everything else works fine, when I connect beelink GT King pro with built-in plex to tv, it works fine. the problem is in the plex software on the tv, a software fix is needed.
sometimes there is an error message about a memory problem, and sometimes the TV just turns off / freezes, this happens with movies with a high bitrate. with smaller files, the image decodes badly and is shredded in green or black.
