I have two Plex servers in my house and the remote access has always worked fine. I’ve got a decent consumer router/access point and keep my network fairly simple. My Tablo and Channels DVR are also accessible outside my network.
If switching to Emby has fixed your problem - awesome! I’ve got a test Emby server spun up in a VM and it seems to work well. I do have a problem ‘shifting gears’ between the different approaches that Plex vs. Emby has. How have you found that? It’s just been unexplainably jarring for me. Don’t know why.
