Plex tidal integration

I just got word that you need to run a server version bigger than 1.15.4.993
Version 1.15.5.994 is available for Plex Pass holders.

Upgraded to 1.15.5.994, rebooted & the problem still persists.

  1. Playlist that correctly includes Tidal & local songs will not play the Tidal-sourced songs.
  2. Track source filter is ā€œTidalā€ still shows error ā€œThe active filter has no matches.ā€

Thanks again for your help looking into this. It would be massively cool to have this integration work.

so it turns out i was actually running an older version of the web app.(duh) after an update…voila!
thanks for the help

Doing some more testing: I can manually create a playlist with Tidal-sourced tracks & local library tracks & all the songs play fine. If I create a ā€œsmartā€ playlist based on filtered criteria that happens to include both Tidal tracks & local tracks, the player (web client, iOS, etc) will always skip the Tidal-sourced tracks.

@OttoKerner: would it help to un-link & re-link the Tidal account to Plex after the server version update? I’m running out of ideas. Thanks again for your time.

You can try that.

What’s the typical bitrate we get with Tidal HiFi on Android app?

I’m trying Tidal HiFi subscription and I’m getting between 620kbps - 1.4 Mbps Flac. Is this normal?
What made me sad/angry is that even for many famous artists such as Radiohead I get only 620 kbps Flac.

I’m not sure if above and / or Plex Android player Treble default equalizer setting made the overall listening to be inferior compared to Spotify on Android. On Radiohead songs I tested the songs feels flat , losing punches and the sound doesn’t feel 3d.

Yes, these are typical bandwidth values for Flac files.

The bandwidth of a Flac file is not dependent on how famous an artist is.
It depends solely on how good the Flac compression algorithm can reduce the bitrate of the song – without loss.
Quiet songs with a lot of breathing room in the mix compress better than loudness-maximised in-your-face masterings.

The default equalizer setting is OFF.

Try disabling loudness leveling.

I don’t have the loudness leveling enabled, nor my Android global setting has.

I must say that Plex default equalizer shouldn’t have come with setting off. I think this is the main culprit that cause user to feel inferior quality compared to the official Android tidal and Spotify apps. I think at least Plex player should have slight 3d sound virtualization and slightly customized equalizer.

By having equalizer off as it’s now, right out of the box Plex app plays tidal songs that user feels flat, the sound is not ā€œroomyā€ this could hurt tidal brand if user think they get inferior quality of the songs. But in fact it seems not the case, it looks like users need to enable 3d sound virtualization and customized equalizer by another third party app. While the official tidal and Android apps right out the box play songs that feel and sounds ā€œrightā€ as it comes with predefined settings.

My Tidal account is linked but i recieve the message…

It used to work fine but now I can’t access Tidal via Plex. I have un-linked my Tidal account waited 24 hours and re-linked it to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To be honest, using Tidal through Plex has just encouraged me to go to tidal.com or the Tidal app and use that instead. I love the way that you can view missing albums for an artist and fill in the gaps in your own library, but Plex doesn’t quite integrate with Tidal as well as I’d like. I feel like I can’t really explore and use Tidal beyond the surface. And for some reason, Plex has the tracks out of order for some Tidal albums… I can’t listen to an album from start to finish unless I add it to a playlist and manually re-order the tracks.

When I navigate to tidal.com, I am presented with Suggested New Albums based on the tidal artists I’ve listened to, new tracks from artists that surprised me with how insightful Tidal’s matching algorithms are, even suggested playlists. If Plex could incorporate those three sections into it’s Tidal Home page, that would make the fit much more comfortable and make me want to just use Plex instead of switching back and forth between Tidal and Plex. An additional nice to have would be the "Because you listened to " sections - this is fantastic and helps me discover new music.

Also, it would be nice to have access to Discovery Radio in more apps - I can’t find it on desktop web Plex.

I understand that Plex can’t add new content from Tidal instantly but it still seems like it takes too long. Additionally, I find sometimes I have to search for an album through the search function after looking through the albums displayed on the artist page - why isn’t every available album on the artist page instead of being hidden behind a search-only route?

I’m currently subscribed to a 3-month trial of Tidal. If Plex manages to better integrate Tidal, I will seriously consider a paid ongoing subscription. But at the present time, I’m just being sold a separate streaming service because of the limitations of Plex / Tidal integration.

I figured it out, if you have Tidal as part of your Sprint plan you have to sign into Tidal from your Sprint phone every so often to keep the account active. Otherwise one day Tidal will work thru Plex and the next day it won’t.

I have a question kinda related to this if I may please…
Where (if anywhere) does PMS store the data from the artists you’ve added from Tidal…??
Reason being, I have nearly 1000 artists added in my Tidal collection, it’s more than a days work to add them all to my Plex Music library…
If, as has recently happened, my PMS has gone up the wall and also my MacOS, I’ve had to start again from scratch and load them all in again…
So is this data stored anywhere so I can back it up somewhere to just add again if the worst should happen again…??
It’s a proper headache sitting here adding one artist at a time, let me tell ya…!!

Thank you… (:

It is stored in the main plex database file.
Back it up together with all the other data explained in here:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/201539237-backing-up-plex-media-server-data/

Make sure to run the backup while Plex server is not running, or you’ll end up with a damaged database file!

Perfect squire, thank you… :hugs:

Using plex in my iphone. Trying to shuffle Music playlist and I get this ā€œtidal previewā€. I have subscribed Tidal premium bundle with plex.! What is this?

@joetorttu That’s definitely not right, is it happening with all tracks or that track specifically and is it happening every time?

So - I resolved this by logging out from my laptop and from my iphone. Then logged in and looks to be good againšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Hi, my admin account shows related soundtracks from Tidal on movie pages but other accounts don’t (even though they are linked to their own Tidal accounts). How do I get related content from Tidal to show up on non-admin accounts?

In the beginning it will only be available for the server owner.
Work is underway to open it up to shared users as well.

Thanks for the reply. Any timeframe when shared users will get these features (assuming they also have Tidal accounts)?
