Tidal - new singles do not show up

Lately, I am encountering an issue that I cannot find new Tidal singles and play or add them to my Plex instance. I reconnected Tidal to my Plex subscription and restarted the server. Unfortunately, I still cannot play or add new singles, which are playable for me when I do it directly from the Tidal app. It concerns the followings singles:

  • Ryan Adams - Big Colors
  • Duran Duran - Invisible

Can somebody please help?

This behavior dates back to March, records that can be heard on Tidal but don’t appear on Plex. Believe it or not, no one is behind this problem. (The mysteries of plex priorities)

By the way Duran Duran’s Invisible is not available on my plex and I just heard it on Tidal.

Thanks for your response. Indeed, I can see the single in Tidal, but usually you can search for it in your Plex instance in the Tidal-area. If I do such a search, strangely enough the video for Duran Duran’s Invisible appears, but not the single…

@Plex and/or @deactivated could you please support?

I don’t think this is limited to Singles. There is lots of music that I can find on Tidal but can’t play on Plex. So far, any Tidal track or album that I’ve noticed is unavailable in Plex, I’ve been able to play through Squeezebox. This seems to indicate to me that it is a Plex issue if another third party app can access the music without a problem.

Thanks @MongarEric for your reply. Did you post it as well in a thread so I can chip in to add weight to this issue? I love the Plex/Tidal solution, but it is quite annoying that these issues are not responded to or resolved…

Received your ping @3s83. I wasn’t able to find Duran Duran’s Invisible single either. Other singles (like Bjork’s 1001 singles) were shown in Plex as tracks.

I’m not the person to fix it but I’m pinging and poking to find the right one(s).

Much appreciated @deactivated, thanks! Looking forward to your follow-up

In the mean time, I can see Duran Duran’s Invisible is available. However when I compare my “new-playlist” from Tidal in Plex (left part of the image) with Tidal itself (right part of the image), I still miss two songs:

  • Ryan Adams - Big Colors
  • AFI - Dulceria

Hope someone from Plex can help me with this.

Thanks for all the posts. I’m having the same issue and trying to find the right place to add my “me too” experience in hopes that Plex can fix.

@3s83: I also noticed occasionally when I search for a new single in Plex, the song does not appear, but the video is available. Happened here, just for another example:

From the PLEX view of this artist: the 2 newest lyric videos are available, but the audio singles are missing>

From the TIDAL view: the 2 audio singles are available>

The single “Stand My Ground” came out 3/19/21 & is available on Plex & Tidal.
The single “Turn It Over” was released 4/16/21 & is not playable on Plex.
The single “The Struggle” was released on 5/14/21 & is not playable on Plex.

So, perhaps the next 2 singles will be available on Plex in another month?

But, I really just wanted to chime in & corroborate that, since March, the list of new tracks released on Tidal & unavailable in Plex is growing exponentially. At risk of double-posting, here’s a sample of my current list of 60+ songs I can play in Tidal, but are not available in Plex:

Tidal view:

Plex view of that Tidal playlist:

Even though these tracks appear in Plex on this playlist, none are actually playable. I get this error message when I attempt to play these songs in Plex:

Thanks for reading. Looking forward to a solution.

I have the issue as well.
I think it was there already for a while that the new releases had some day’s till I could find them in Plex but now the new releases are missing and not showing up.

I can’t find them in any way inside Plex.

Adding my voice, and mentioning Since I Left You by The Avalanches as not showing up at all.

I’ve been keeping track of the progress for awhile, so maybe it would help to see my spreadsheet (screen shots below). Here are 70 new releases, some singles/some albums, showing the delay or unavailability of Tidal content in Plex. You can see a few releases sneak in late, but most are still unavailable. I still can’t detect a pattern, but certainly this list is not comprehensive, but should be big enough to raise red flags, right?

At this point I think only a few people are using the Tidal service, this is a huge bug not to be seen. Or only a few dig on new releases.

@yortdog thanks for the overview! Would it be an idea to have somewhere an editable file so we can other releases as well?

@JavierVera indeed frustrating as apparently no action or updates are being given.

@deactivated is there any update on this matter yet from Plex/Tidal?

@3s83: Thanks for your post & helping keep the problem visible. I’d be happy to share my spreadsheet & make it editable. Here’s a link to Dropbox:

There are currently 70 titles on the list, and I’d love to see more titles added to emphasize the problem, but how many will it take for the Plex staff to acknowledge & fix? (100? 200? I feel like this is a petition  If we get 300 signatures, will Plex fix the problem? )

One critical note: For this to be meaningful, the user needs to check the release status in Plex every day! This is the only way to show the true delay between Tidal availability and Plex availability. It’s easy to check the street date on Tidal, but the only way to capture “first available on Plex” is to check every day. Rarely are singles viewable in Plex after street date, but, in my experience, a few albums tend to sneak in later.

Can’t wait to see additions & Plex staff actions. But I get this feeling… the behavior of the Plex platform feels like the Tidal license expired and Plex doesn’t want to re-up until enough demand is met and/or a new deal is worked out. I’m totally guessing with no specific insight, other than, these results are what I’d expect when 2 companies part ways and don’t want to tell anyone. Right? To ignore a problem for 3 months? Please prove me wrong, Plex ninjas. Your friend, yortdog.

Thanks @yortdog I made some additions to the Excel and will monitor it. Also I noticed that @K.McGlashan posted a new thread with a compilation of similar issues: Tidal Integration - Compounding Issues

Hope this will support our case as well. Could some of the Plex Ninja’s help?

@3s83: Did you add Big Colors by Ryan Adams? The single is available to me in Plex, but the album is still missing track1. Can you confirm on your side?

Indeed @yortdog, I added Ryan Adams - Big Colors (the single). I can find the album and also play the first song:

However, as a single it is not available via Plex:

But it is available via Tidal:

I see what you see, @yortdog.

@3s83, are you located in the US? Funny that we’re seeing completely different things.

I’m in the US, too.
Here’s my view of the Plex search, showing the available Tidal content, and I can add either of these to my Plex library & play them:

The album shows all but track 1 & 8, actually, so I can’t see/play those.

So, this specific release may be a territory issue? If you have time to spot check a few on the list, I’d be curious if ANY are available in non-US territories.
