Plex + Tidal not working for managed users

You cannot use manages users, but you can create a regular Plex account, add it to your Plex Home, link your Tidal account to this new Plex account, and sign into the clients with this new Plex account.

Why can’t Tidal and Plex come up with subscription packages for managed users that admins could purchase? I don’t know why this would be so difficult. You could create packages based on the # of managed users and also offer an unlimited package.

BOOM , everyone is happy now. Plex and Tidal get their $$ and don’t have worry about and licensing issues. Plex admins and managed usersr get what they want with Tidal and Music. WIN WIN!!

Won’t happen. See Plex for Tidal as a different interface for Tidal. As far as i understoood, you can merge own content with tidal content? so i guess thats why…
but it will never happen, that 1 user is able to stream 2+ at the same time. same for spotify, netflix and so on

When you do it this way (I have tried) it opens up different restrictions. For instance, that new 'main user" account you created and added to your home cannot add content to Plex, so the whole ‘use Tidal to supplement your missing albums’ thing doesn’t work.

It was more than six months ago so I can’t remember all the other shortcomings but I remember it also really destabilised my Plex apps. And ever since I have to reorder my media sources in my Android apps constantly. There are several other issues I do not care to remember.

It’s a terrible implementation, poorly thought out. I still have the integration only because I cannot be bothered to unlink it but I NEVER use Tidal within Plex, I just use the Tidal app directly.

Question:
Its not possible to add Tidal(Fam-Plan) to my “Managed Home Users”. So, i make for every one of my Family an new Plex Account with there e-Mail adresses.
After this, i can not share the Live-TV (Tongle) to there Accounts anymore.

So, now i have the Choice to allow my Family-Users to Tidal-Library(new Account) or LiveTV(Managed Users)?

Why isn’t possible to allow both?

Have you added the new user accountd to your Plex Home so that their names appear on your fast switching screen?

If they are in the Plex Home (instead of just shared friends) then you can go to the Restrictions tab and enable Allow Live TV or Allow Live TV & DVR for each user.

You can. As mentioned in the above post by SupoerPlexd. You need to add them to Plex Home to share Live TV.

Ah thanks, now it works :ok_hand:

The whole thread is a very nice proof why all this streaming & licensing restrictions suck.

The whole music industry is repeating the past: They tried to dongle CD with copy-protection, they tried DRM digital content, now they made it to shift away from anything you get into your hands. Streaming allows them to control everything.

And as we see, they don’t have the user in mind, they have their business in mind. They don’t care if things become complicated or useless for you.

So, I’ll stick with my good old MP3 collection. I’m in control, I can decide how it’s used, and I don’t have to workaround any annoying restrictions I even have to pay for, for the joy. No thanks.
