Plex token problem?

Server Version#:1.42.1.10060
after getting notified about the hack, i changed my password. force logged out all of my devices and manually relogged them back in. but my computer when i double click on the plex icon in the task bar it goes into a infinite loop of opening the web UI with the 127.0.0.1 address. however if i remove the plex token information it will open it with no issues. how do i remove that information? i found online to remove it from the preference.xml but my pc does not have one at all. any help would be appreciated in solving this mystery.

This weird. Verify that your default browser doesn’t have any browser add-ins which block or filter parts of Plex.
If you still cannot use the default method of claiming your server, see Unable to access server after password reset - #116 by OttoKerner

i think i have a better idea of whats wrong, i had to separate plex servers on my account. one that i didnt use too often. so during the reset password stuff the other plex server completely disappeared. cant claim it as its not showing up at all. and im sure thats where that token is to.

and when i reinstalled, it didnt give me an option to create a new server. let me try again

Did you copy all the Plex data from the Windows registry from one server to the other?
That would make the two servers “clones”, which fight each other over their identity.
If plex.tv sees two servers with the same identity, it will remove the this server identity from your account immediately.
