Plex Transcoder segfault libavformat.so.59

Server Version#: Docker 1.32.4.7195
Player Version#: 4.108.0

Hi All,

I recently started to receive an error when trying to play some files. It seems to fail more when the file is closer to the end…

I noticed this error coming up in the kernel logs

[345303.878578] Plex Transcoder[1800892]: segfault at 28 ip 00007f5169b681c2 sp 00007ffc9372f120 error 4 in libavformat.so.59[7f51699e7000+1fe000] likely on CPU 16 (core 9, socket 1)

I have also attached the server log with debug. (for some reason, verbose is also showing). See attached.

Does anyone know what it might be or how to t-shoot?

Thanks

Hmm, this seems to happen often when i get close to finishing at movie or show. How odd as i am not even transcoding, i am direct playing. It also seems to mostly happen if i have subtitles turned on??

anyone have any thoughts

Are you using a smart tv as your player? Samsung or LG? It sounds similar enough to this post you should probably take a look.

An employee asked for logs there so if it sounds like the same issue maybe drop yours in there also

Hi @JaysPlex, thanks for replying. I appreciate it.

Yes, i am using the new LG OLED G3 Plex App. I also have an NVIDIA Shield, but I find playing from the LG Plex app provides a smoother play experience.

Thanks for sharing those other threads, it def confirmed it seems to be a bug with the player.

I will track those threads. Thanks!

Same happening here too. I’m using unRaid with the latest Plex server version.
How to fix this?

Many of my friends are complaining about this, and yes they are using subtitles.
