On Firefox and Chrome across both Windows and Mac, I have external SRT files which Plex is transcoding to ASS files. The video plays fine by itself (ie. without subs), but when SRT subs are selected, it starts buffering after 30 seconds. Best guess is it’s because they’re getting converted to .ASS format for some reason. Is there any way to disable this and have them play as SRTs?
Enable “debug” logging on your Plex server.
Do NOT enable “verbose” logging.
Stop and restart your server.
Play the offending file for ~1 minute.
Fetch the server logs and inspect the Plex media server.log.
Use the time stamps to navigate to the moment when you pressed Play.
