For years Plex on my Nvidia Shield has been playing 4K video just fine. All of a sudden it has started transcoding all of it down to 1080p following the remote settings inside the android app. If I set the Remote streaming quality to maximum it will stop transcoding. Home streaming has no effect. If I start the movie then switch the settings to “Play Original Quality” it will start direct playing the stream at 4K.
Nothing else has any effect on this. I’ve changed security settings, forced the server to see my network by telling the server what the local address is. Nothing else works.
