I was looking at my episodes for MST3k (Mystery Science Theater 3000) and noticed a problem with some episodes in the “Specials” season, which contain their first public-access season. Some of the episodes contain the title and description for the corresponding episode of Season 1, which is incorrect. For example, S00E04 should be “Gamera vs Barugon” but the title and description are for “Women of the Prehistoric Planet”.
Performing the Plex Dance does not fix it. Both TheTVDB and TMDB have correct data for this episode in the Specials season. So I don’t know where it’s getting this information. It’s not from metadata in the file.
Oddly enough, the image is correct.
This is impacting only two episodes in in the 00 Season – episodes 4 and 5. All the rest look fine.
In both of these cases, the metadata appears to be from the corresponding episode in Season 1.
I’ve removed them, emptied the trash, cleared bundles, etc. and they just come back with the same incorrect metadata.
Any ideas? Or should I just manually edit and lock the fields for the two episodes?
Yeah, I think for now I’ll just change them manually and lock the fields. I saw that today there was a bug fix for an issue where playing a Special episode could play from the wrong season. I thought maybe it also caused it to fetch data for the wrong season, but it doesn’t appear to be fixed.
That (probably) won’t work (for long). <—I’m gonna find out with my show that apparently has 4 episodes all named the same thing.
Every time Plex tries to match it - it’ll (probably) blow our edits. The ONLY way to keep an ‘Unmatched’ item in your Media Libraries (Shows and Movies) is to:
New Agents:
Unmatch - this forces The Personal Media Agent and Plex will stop trying to match the item making your edits safe.
Old Agents:
Fix Match/Search Options/Select Personal Media from the Agent dropdown.
I’ll guess we’ll find out what - eventually - happens.
I took a look and all the episodes in season 1 on TMDB had the linkages to mismatching IMDB episodes. I’ve removed the bad data hopefully that should fix the issue in the next couple of days when things are reprocessed on our end.
Oh, that’s interesting. I didn’t think to check the accuracy of Season 1 since it was affecting my “Season 0”/Specials. I’ll check on it in a few days and see if this helped. Thanks!
Some MST3K extras will play the incorrect file despite pointing to the correct file when I pull up the Plex info. This is actually happening with the majority of my MST3K extras. Kinda weird. Not sure what’s up with that.
