Offcourse, if your PMS is on same network , you can view everything, proxy is only needed for remote servers
and for multiple users with plex pass

Was struggling to figure it out on my J series after the app randomly stopped working and would hang on the code screen after reinstall.
Offline method:
On PMS add TV’s IP to Settings → Network → List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth
Launch Plex App and when it hangs on code screen hit the Menu button to bring up the on screen keypad. Choose the red “A” to select “Home.”
That should give the option to manually add the server’s IP, which bypasses the auth so you don’t have to enter the code.
Replying just for those that are confused on how to get to the settings as I was.

Hello, I have the same problem. My old smart TV is U32J5500. I try with USB key but when I insert to the TV nothing append. I try to sideload, but in smart hub, the red button don’t work. I really need the online function.

thanks for this. I have tried it, entered the remote Plex server IP address:port and get the following:
Test failed, server is reachable but it returned: ‘Access is denied’. Due to the security settings, this server is only accessible, when you are logged in on your Plex account.
I’ve added my home IP ranges to the allowed without auth field on the remote server.
Which means most likely, that you have set Secure Connections to “required” in your server’s settings.
You cannot require secure connections if you are connecting a client without login, just by server IP address.

Is there a setting somewhere that requires a logged in Plex account?
Is above in private address space?
What syntax did you use in PMS settings to allow without auth?
Mine is 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0
And a PMS restart is needed afterwards

The IP address is public and fixed. I’m using the same syntax as you, and have also tried it without the subnet. I can verify from the remote server console that the server is seeing that IP address from other (working) devices from within my house.
I can even see the request that hitting the “add Server” button from the Samsung client makes (verbose logging on).
