The plex tv series agent wont update for this show but when switching to the TVDb or TMDb agent the metadata updates as it should. Not sure why the plex tv series agent is not updating for this one series it works well for all other shows. Maybe a bug?
To add more detail: The show is listed on TVDB as “Dear Mama” and on TMDB as “Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur”. Yet, on Plex, it’s been named “Outlaw: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur” since it was released. The first two episodes match, the third one doesn’t.
I can only assume that there is an issue with linking, as usual.
Also currently not matching at the episode level is the new show “Bupkis”.
So it’s a known bug? And yea that is the title it serves. I had manually changed it thinking it just needed time to update since it’s a new show but its been some time now since the show first aired.
I wouldn’t call it a bug. This stuff happens when things are not linked properly between the databases. It only impacts the “new” series agent, like you found, because the legacy agents don’t rely on linking to each other.
I’ve never been a fan of having all things TV go through TMDB first, regardless of what the admin selects in PMS, but it is what it is, currently. And for the vast majority of shows, it simply works.
Aaah makes sense now. Thanks for looking into the issue. I’ll just hope that they can “link” this show soon because I personally tried using the TVDb agent and in my case it was a tad bit slower acquiring the metadata than the plex agent and TMDb agent was missing some older shows but I wouldn’t mind switching if the issue persists. Thanks again.
“Dear Mama” now matches, as of this morning. Several others have also been fixed. The only show left unmatched for me at this time is “Mulligan”.
yeah for me it shows the Outlaw title and it shows that in the plex show page https://watch.plex.tv/show/outlaw-the-saga-of-afeni-and-tupac-shakur So i’m guessing that needs to be updated.
But also mulligan shows correct episode titles here, but for some reason my server won’t pull the correct episode titles.
not sure how to report incorrect metadata on their end to plex.
Gremlins: Secret of the Mogwai has a similar issue
Edit the show (pencil icon → Advanced) and choose The Movie Database for episode ordering. Refresh metadata if Plex does not do so automatically. Plex will then display episode names and descriptions.
