Plex Update Causes Netgear RN214 Issue

After recently updating my PMS my Netgear RN214 doesn’t want to transcode anything remotely at all, and some items on the local network. Much to my annoyance I decided to reset my NAS to see if it was a NAS problem, when installing Plex back on everything was fine and working as expected, updated Plex and the issue came back. My NAS can transcode 1080p no problem so I don’t know why this update has decided to not allow the RN214 to do it saying (CPU is not powerful enough). So I’ve uninstalled Plex and reinstalled the built in server and I’m currently running server version: 1.11.3.4803 which is working perfectly so obviously the NAS can do it.

I want to update it to something like 1.15.2 as this was working fine and allows me to use the server on the Plex app for the Mac. I’ve been looking on the internet to try and find a legacy version of the server update for the Netgear NAS but can’t find anything.

Such a shame, can anyone offer advice or where I might be able to get the previous server version.

Thanks for any help.

You need to checkout these 2 threads…there is NO solution AFAIK and it seems no one from Plex cares.

One of them also has a link to an older version that was the last known version that worked correctly. I ended up installing Plex on an old laptop and have had no issues with a Windows version.

Good luck!

Thank-you this is really helpful. It’s so annoying that Plex won’t respond to this issue, especially as they recommended this NAS in one of their emails. I’ll look to install that update that was in one of threads. Fingers crossed it’s something they will sort in due course.

Thank-you again for your help.

Same reason I bought my 214, wanted it to run Plex server. What a bust! Strange that all the other NAS devices get some love but Netgear/Readynas gets nada!
