Anytime I try to watch anything on the web interface that isn’t coming from a private server, the audio will start playing, but the video just shows a white screen. This is on multiple browsers (Vivaldi, Edge, Firefox) and across multiple OS’s (Debian, Endeavour OS, KDE Neon) on multiple different machines. Verified that it’s just Plex and not the video itself, as I am able to watch “Relic Hunter” from the late 90’s just fine directly from TubiTV, but plex shows just a white screen for the video. Anyone ran into this before and know how to fix?
When this only happens with media coming from Plex’s on-demand streaming options, chances are that it happens because these open source OS’s don’t have support for DRM in their web browsers.
“Google Widevine CDM” might be explicitly disabled or not installed in the first place.
No, widevine is efinitely installed and working. As I pointed out, the exact same stream plays in TubiTV without issues, while using DRM. It’s something to do with how Plex does it, and only changed about 2 months ago, as prior to that it played in Plex without issues as well.
