Plex Windows 10 Server stops streaming and never recovers until rebooted

Server Version#: 1.23.1.4571
Player Version#: roku, apple tv, ios

No matter which player I’m using behavior is the same. I’ve tried changing several transcoder settings (hitting CPU more and less) but to no avail.
Streaming on Local network.
This is on a new Windows PC build and new Plex server setup (did not move plex server database).
when I monitor the server with Plex Dash app the CPU never seems to break a sweat (never even getting up to 15%), the memory use never seems to be up at all, and the bandwidth, depending on the type of file, runs between 5-10Mbps (for a DVD) and 15-20 (for a Bluray), and perhaps up a bit higher for one of the few 4k movies I have.

Transcoder settings:
I’ve set transcoder quality to ‘automatic’
Background transcoding to ‘medium’
checked ‘enable HDR tone mapping’
checked ‘use hardware acceleration’
checked ‘use hardware accelerated video encoding’

Your log didn’t upload properly. Can you try again?

Certainly

after poking through the logs myself I’m beginning to think it may be a networking problem. I’m just not sure exactly what it is.
I had my plex server setup previously on an older Mac Mini and had very little problems with it.
the hard drives with the data were all external.

I don’t see any playback attempts in there. Can you try the following?

  • restart pms
  • wait 3 minutes, don’t do anything
  • try playing something, wait 1 minute
  • stop playback
  • grab new logs

Okay. Followed instructions and new logs are attached.

New information:
MB has hardwired gigabit network card and Wi-Fi on it. I normally turn off Wi-Fi and use wire, which Plex server is configured to use.
When Plex server stops working while streaming it knocks out internet access on Gigabit hardwired network. Network is still ‘connected’ but no internet access (and no real local network access either-cannot access Plex server even on local machine thru web browser ‘127’ address). Thus reason I have no streaming, even on local network.
I can turn on Wi-Fi and computer will have network/internet restored thru that network connection.
I have Norton 360 running on this machine handling firewall / anti-virus to give further clarification. Firewall has all Plex programs cleared to run through it as far as I can tell. Wouldn’t explain why ALL internet access gets cut off though.

This is definitely a network problem not a transcoder problem.

I couldn’t see any issues in your logs. Everything looked fine. We did recently identify an issue where DNS breaks with some routers and PMS. I don’t know if this is what causing your issues but if it is, you can roll back to 1.22 until we get this fixed. If that doesn’t help, you’ve got some other issue that isn’t showing up.
