Plex won't add a show

Hi,

I am trying to add “Space 1999” the TV show from 1975 and Plex is not adding it.

I suspect it is because of the shows name, is there a way around this?

Fixing file names?

If it’s this show: Space: 1999 (1975)

Then label the folder: Space 1999 (1975). If you leave out the year it released, then Plex may see the “1999” and think that is when it came out, and improperly match it to a show around that time (or combine it with another similarly named show.

Read tom80H’s articles on how you should name your media to prevent this from happening. For TV Shows, it’s always a good idea to include the release year in the folder name. Refer to TVDB or TMDB for the date, since Plex doesn’t use IMDB or wikipedia dates.

Space 1999 (1975) {tvdb-76366}\Season 1\Space 1999 (1975) - S01E09 - Mission of the Darians Bluray-1080p.mkv

This is an example of the file name and it is not being picked up and I cannot see why, any ideas?

Maybe try a plex dance if you have not all ready.

I have this show myself and the episode is named as follows Space: 1999 (1975) {tmdb-134}/Season 01/Space: 1999 - S01E09 - Mission of the Darians.mp4 and its detected by plex.

I am using tmdb id for matching but tvdb id should work just fine so I believe a plex dance will sort it out for you.

Cheers, the plex dance seems to have cured it.

Is there anyway to check for other series/movies that are not being picked up on the scan?

A tool to check the folders against those added to the DB?

You can use filters within any given library. So for example here listing unmatched episodes within my TV library.

You can do this for movies, shows, albums and even tracks using the advanced filters.
