Plex works on laptop and phone but won't work on Samsung TV - remote, via internet in a different country

So… I am and have been traveling for a few months. Been connecting to plex via phone / laptop / chromecast for a month or so without any issues. I am in a different country so I am accessing it remotely. Ports have been unlocked in my home router.

Now I moved to a new apartment and no longer have a chromecast but the TV here is a generation 7 Samsung smart TV so I was hoping I could connect through the app.

On the same network my laptop and phone work just fine but the TV won’t work. the “insecure” setting is on, it sees my account but won’t connect to the server.

Back home (through the local network) I’ve got 3 Samsung TVs connected and work just fine.

any ideas?
