It’s mysterious because under the hood, Plex and Plexamp both use the same player engine.
If it’s taking long to start/switch, that generally implies you’re not getting the bandwidth you need.
If you you posted the plexamp logs during a slow startup, we could at least see what network connection it was using, and corresponding logs from the server might help as well (especially if we had both sets from Plex and Plexamp for the same track).
