I don’t know what the heck was up with it, why Plexamp behaved in such a way, but I just uninstalled Plexamp and reinstalled it from the Play Store and now it is working.

Just to be explicit, it’s only for the cases of trouble signing in. For everything else, there’s settings > advanced > debugging > share debug logs.
