I’m have running a PMS with Plex Pass on Synology and got access to it with my Notebook, Smartphone and so on. Same goes with my family members and friends.
Here comes the question:
I really love to use Plexamp but how can I make my music library accessible to friends via Plexamp?
The Login Screen always wants a Plax Pass user, but I mean, ya I am but not for my friends.
While some Plex Pass features only require a Plex Pass for the server owner, Plexamp is only available to Plex Pass holders.
According to what I’ve been reading, family members who are managed users of a “Plex Home” should also be able to use it (as those are running under your own account).
But in that case I have to manually login in every device of my family members/friends, right? I mean there are distances between us.
Ok, but why? Why not just make it an one-time purchase? I’m sharing my library to ten friends and I won’t by 10 x 100 EUR lifetime licenses just for using one simple app that uses just an DNS.
Well… Plex Home is intended to be used for people who live with you or actual family. It’s not intended to be used for regular sharing with friends for them to inherit some more features of your Plex Pass membership (therefore the # of members of a Plex home is limited).
There’s a feature request to expand the use of Plexamp from your own managed users to all home users:
I honestly don’t know. Plex are usually not commenting on their plans/roadmap
