Newbie here! I’ve set-up a Plex server and I’m looking at getting a Plex Pass to allow downloads on the Plexamp mobile app. Can anyone please confirm if it’s possible to then download in hi-res (e.g. original flac files). In the quality setting i either set it to max and get flac streaming or the conversion bitrate tops out at 256. I don’t have an option higher than 320 in the conversion setting. Does that apply to downloads, or with the pass, will i be able to download high res?
I’d appreciate some info before investing. Thanks for your help!
That’s what the Maximum option in Settings > Downloads > Quality is for.
As per the options subtitle:
Never convert unless unsupported format.
If you select a bitrate, that’ll result in downloads being converted (IIRC using Opus) with that bitrate (if the original file isn’t compatible and below that bitrate). Max conversion bitrate in my Plexamp settings is listed as 2 Mbps – not sure if that’s based on the real-world bitrates found in my library
TL;DR: you can totally download hi-res.
Just did a test-download of a Hi-Res FLAC album… works like a charm.
Fantastic, thank you. I can’t see the options under Settings > Downloads as I’m not a pass holder yet, so it’s locked. You’ve confirmed what I was hoping!
