Plexamp - no servers

Now it works.
Strange, but i first had to open plex app and then it found my music library.

Same here, no library found several times I tried until POOF there it was.

I guess you just had to ask the computer the same question several times.

Yes - suddenly working this morning as soon as I tried. (Maybe something changed overnight on the authentication server?)

Same issue here. Both on iOS and macOS I don’t get any further than the opening screen and (on iOS) the message that there are no music servers. Plexamp 1.1 ran just fine, by the way.

Considering I bought a Plexpass especially for this feature, this is pretty frustrating, to say the least.

I have the same problem.

On my iPhone 7:

  1. Plex app works fine and finds Movies, TV and Music.
  2. Plexamp allows me to sign in but then shows the “Error: No Music Servers” screen. (See below.)
  3. Plex Dash allows me to sign in but then displays a spinner that doesn’t not disappear.

Plex Server is running 1.19.1.2645 on a Raspberry Pi.

This is the error screen I see:

Kinda like the “no soup for you” message. Cute, but can be frustrating for some.

It’s not what you want to see right after spending your hard-earned cash.

In the meanwhile, I discovered that the problem disappears when on cellular data. The problem has hence perhaps something to do with the DNS binding mentioned in other threads. I have since upgraded to:

See Plex keeps buffering video even though it's played on localhost web player

Having similar issues here. Switch off WiFi and user cellular data and it works fine.

What if your router does not allow you to change DNS settings? Not to mention the steps thereafter.

That’s the $100 question.
Nothing much.
The DNS server can also be defined at the machine level (at least on computers and better NAS devices).
If your router doesn’t have a configurable DNS rebinding setting, then you’re out of luck.
Your best bet would be to use a different router
or try to exchange the default firmware of your router with “Tomato” or “DD-WRT” and similar open source projects.

Sometimes also using a second router behind the first one is an option. (Although this then often complicates setting up remote access.)

I changed DNS settings on my NAS: no dice, unfortunately.

It must be done both on server and clients to have any effect.

And then there is still the “DNS rebinding protection” issue.

Thanks for helping out. Effectively, changing DNS settings on NAS and client to Google’s DNS servers solved the issue. Again, many thanks for the patient help.

I get this message all the time on Mac OSX. The server is identified however nothing plays. On the plus side the Android install works perfectly but let down by the way it is totally tied to the phone with no Chromecast support.
Edit: Changed DNS to Google and everything is good. Top marks to Plex Labs.

Plexamp worked fine for me since it’s release and now I get this same thing today on Android.

That’s mean, if I don’t want to change my NAS DNS to Google, I cannot use Plexamp? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You can try 1.1.1.1 as well (Cloudflare).
The main thing is that your ISP’s DNS server(s) are probably not updated fast enough or have filters, so you need to try alternatives. And Google’s and Cloudflare’s DNS services are commonly known as working.
There might be others, but I couldn’t recommend them because I don’t know of experiences with them.

For information, I can tell you that PrivateInternetAcess’s (VPN provider) DNS servers on 209.222.18.222 and 209.222.18.218 doesn’t work.
