A friend of mine that I share libraries with downloaded Plexamp and it gives him a message “We’re sorry, but a PlexPass is required to use this app”. He has already paid the $4.99 for the full version of the Plex from the Google Play Store to be able to use the music functionality on Android. Plexamp is working fine for the other two friends that I share libraries with. Any help would be appreciated.
Plexamp is indeed only available to users with a Plex Pass. It’s not sufficient for the server owner to have a plex pass. He can still use the regular Plex client on his Android… the one-time-activation for non-Plex-Pass-owners will however not activate this separate app.
It says so in the blog post, in the plex labs page and the dedicated plexamp.com homepage…

The new version of Plexamp is Plex Pass only.

Once you have a Plex Pass, download the app, throw your best FLACs at it and experience sonic bliss!

You’ll need a Plex Media Server and an active Plex Pass to use this app
Thank you for the clarification and the prompt response!
Also just to note that it works for Plex Home members, just not “outsiders” you share with
That makes sense. Thank you for the information.
I am enjoying, would be great if non Plex Pass members could use it, even if they have to purchase the app.
