Plexamp skips files from audiobooks

When playing audiobooks continually from a home server, where the chapters are stored in single MP3 files, Plexamp keeps skipping files when it reached the end of one file. The sorting in a normal Plex client on a local computer is fine, but streamed on a smartphone, a few files are ignored, and play continues with a file further down the line.

There is no m3u file stored, only the mp3 ones.
