Plexamp tray icon missing

Hi,

I’m running Plexamp on Gnome. There is no system tray icon visible, am i missing something here?

According to this website, there is a tray icon available on Ubuntu after setting the environment variable XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=Unity. On my system this variable is set to ‘GNOME’ and even if i change it there is no tray icon.

I’m using the latest Arch Linux and Gnome 3.36.3. Plexamp is installed via plexamp-appimg from AUR and is started with ‘–disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox’ because thats the current workaround for arch, otherwise plexamp doesn’t display anything. The gnome extensions appindicator-support and tray-icons are installed and enabled, so there should be a tray icon in the upper right corner (other apps show tray icons).

Thanks!

Plexamp v3.x doesn’t have a tray icon anymore.

Is there a reason for this? Having a tray icon is pretty essential for a lot of users. At least having an option would be much appreciated. Currently, I’m unable to tell whether plexamp is open or not, and opening a new instance doesn’t do anything. I’m also unable to view the app for some reason at the moment,. I can listen to music, but I can’t open the app, but it’s somehow open in the background (not showing up in the dock and of course there’s no tray icon).
