PlexConnect Crashing

  • Your ATV model (2 or 3) and firmware version (found under the ATV settings > general > about > Apple TV software): ATV2 (Model MC572LL/A), 6.0.1 (6646.80.1)

  • The DNS server set on the ATV (found under the ATV settings > general > network > DNS): 192.168.13.222 (Manual)

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that PlexConnect is installed on: Mac Mini (Mid 2010), OS X Mavericks 10.9 (NOT Server)

  • The local IP address of the device that PlexConnect is installed on: 192.168.13.222

  • The device and operating system (including version number) that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: HP Microserver N40L, vmware esxi 5.0, WHS2011 SP1 (64 bit)

  • The Plex media server (PMS) version number you are running (do not put 'latest'): PMS for Windows 0.9.8.0-8895eb2

  • The local IP address of the device that the Plex media server (PMS) is installed on: 192.168.13.111

  • The PlexConnect version number. If using Github source then a time and date of download (look at the creation date of the folder) and if you are using any testing branch e.g. the Elan/PlexInc one. Not sure how to get version number, I use github and did a 'git pull' update before mailing, response is 'Already up-to-date.'

  • The content of your 'Settings.cfg' file (if you do not have this file you are running an old version, please update)

  • A detailed description of the issue (the clearer you can make this the better): My setup is working fine for everything (OS X client on Mac Mini, iOS clients etc) with the exception of certain Library sections on the ATV2 using PlexConnect, which has been working previously. I have my library divided into a number of sections, e.g. Movies, TV Shows, Kids Movies, Comedy etc. I'm having no issues with Kids Movies or Comedy sections files playing, but when selecting the Movies or TV Shows section ATV springboard crashes and returns me to the ATV home screen. NOTE: This is before selecting anything to play, i.e. crash is whilst just bringing up the section view (e.g. On Deck, Recently Added etc).The log file attached covers from PlexConnect startup, playing successfully Kids Movies section file, and then crash in accessing TV Shows section.  FYI: Channels (TED, YouTube etc) that I have installed are all working fine too.

Is your ATV jailbroken?

There is no jailbreak for 6.0.1, is there? :-D

It is not jailbroken, I didn't even think this was possible on iOS 6.0.1? It has been previously to run Plex, but pretty much as soon as PlexConnect came out I updated to latest iOS version and regularly update iOS and PlexConnect. It had been working fine until I updated both yesterday. It's strange it's only some library sections??

Doh true! Although being able to consistently and reproducibly crash the ATV is often the first step in creating a jailbreak :stuck_out_tongue:

Good point, it does happen every time, even after restart of ATV, Mac Mini running PlexConnect and WHS2011 running PMS.

I've two more ATV2's I can use too - can't remember what versions they're running, but both definitely older.

Try it with one of the other ATV’s.

I seem to have resolved my problem, I have just upgraded my PMS to 0.9.8.10 as I wanted to try the new cloud sync and the issue has gone away
