PlexKodiConnect: Kodi Plex Integration Done Right

I am new to the connecting Plex and Kodi game, but tried to get this going without luck with the 1.1.0 version. Uninstalled and reinstalled many times, restarted, etc. no luck. Continued to give me an error that it failed to reset PMS connections and couldn’t restart Kodi. So as I read thru all of these pages someone mentioned they tried a previous version and got it to work. So I thought I would try 1.0.17 and sure enough - BOOM! Worked like a charm. Synced over all my movies and TV Shows without incident. Pretty impressive job!! So far really enjoying it. Thank you for this great add-on.

Right now it is set up the default way. As I read through all of these posts I saw many people very excited about using paths instead of http. What exactly is gained by doing this and what is lost? Thanks for the help understanding the difference. I want to be sure I follow before attempting to change anything as it is working perfectly at the moment.

Thanks again.

Hey Guys

I really want to give this a go but I’m a newbie to the world of Kodi.

I have kodi 14 Helix installed on Android, does this work with that. I tried installing the 2 dependencies without success using “Install from Zip file” but all that happens is a menu comes up wioth “Currently Installing” but with nothing in it and then nothing happens, INstalling the main zip addon then says missing dependencies\

Thanks.

Just started playing with this today, and I’m having an error pop up. I’m using Windows 10, and the Kodi v 16.0. I’ve installed the plugin, and it’s found my Plex server. The only problem is, everytime it interacts with the Plex server I get the following error. Web server Failed to start. I can hit ESC to get past it but it reappears. If I continue to hit ESC, I’ll get past all the errors and everything seems fine. Right now I’m just testing on my desktop to make sure I get everything working correctly before I put it into production. Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks.

Some additional info:

Started logging and found this in the logs:

11:49:33 T:7836 DEBUG: CWebServer [MHD]: setsockopt failed: Bad address
11:49:33 T:7836 DEBUG: CWebServer [MHD]: Failed to bind to port 8080: Permission denied
11:49:33 T:7836 DEBUG: Previous line repeats 1 times.
11:49:33 T:7836 ERROR: WebServer: Failed to start the webserver

Does anyone know what this means?

First off - THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this plugin. Please put up a donate link so some of us can reward your hard work.

Questions:

  • Is anyone else having issues trying to “Seek” in Kodi while direct playing with this plugin? When I arrow up (10 min forward seek) it sort of hangs up and maybe goes ahead 1min 40sec. Same with arrow right (30 sec forward seek) it only crawls forward. Repeated pushed of the seek button seem to cause it to pause and not go anywhere. I have confirmed on the server that it’s direct playing.

  • When I restart Kodi I get an error message (everytime) saying it can’t connect to plex.tv. If I hit OK, it then connects and i get the toaster popup saying my account connected

Log attached. Running openelec 6.0.3 legacy Nvidia build.

**Note I’m using 1.0.17 as I’ve see a few reports here of issues with 1.1 and haven’t updated yet.

Thanks.

running PKC 1.0.17 on OpenElec Version: 6.95.1 on a Raspberry 3

Some very nice things here:

so THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this plugin!

OK, upon further research I found this:

forums.plex.tv/discussion/176005/plexconnect-on-windows-10-failed-to-connect-resolved

Which basically says to disable the HTTP service in Windows 10. I tried this, and it worked. Rather than disable the HTTP service, is there a way to change the port PlexKodiConnect uses to something other than port 8080?

Can someone please explain to me how to search for a movie? I was told that there would be no search feature in PKC because I can use Kodi to search for movie in the database, because all of the movies are stored in Kodi’s database. PKC is running GREAT and I love it, but with so many movies in my list, I would like to figure out how to (from Kodi) interogate it to see if I have a certain movie. Sorry to ask such a basic question, but I am stumped.

@lindseyinvestments like I mentioned before, where the search is located is totally dependent on what Kodi skin your using. Say for example your using the default Confluence skin and haven’t modified it at all. The search window is right above the horizontal bar of library items to the right, on your home screen. Click up twice and your in your search window. Hit enter to input your search. I’m using Titan as a skin right now and my search is in the upper left hand corner. See what I’m saying.

Look at the screenshot I pulled off the web all the way to the right as an example.

or if using Confluence you can go into any section(movies or tv) and just go left…its under Misc options.

@hstamas

Is that the same still on Jarvis, i don’t have that search button, in all honesty i never use Confluence .

Gosh I’m not sure? Swapping out the skin is probably the first thing I do after installing Kodi. Search is usually a built in library item for skins that allow multiple home screen items like Aeon Nox as well. It’s usually pretty obvious I. Most skins.

Yeah i have no trouble finding it, i always use Titan.

Just thought maybe since i wasn’t seeing it on Confluence on the Home page, maybe there was a setting i had to check.

Search is a lot more obvious on Estuary( the new default skin).

Now I know why i cant find it. I am using the same untouched confluence screen your showing, however, I see the very edge of the search tab your talking about and there is no way to get to it., and am now trying to figure out how to get to it. However, the other folks that answered also lent a way to get to it from the Misc selection on the left that pops out. From there I was able to find and use search.

Thanks everyone for the help on that

Hi!

I don´t know if it has been discussed previously but I´m having an annoying issue with PKC lately.
First of all, I install the plugin correctly, follow the instructions, finish syncing the complete library and after tinkering a bit everything seems ok.

But after a Kodi restart, the Plex Home login pops up constantly. I select my user but no matter if you login correctly, it displays “error” and prompts you to login again in an endless loop.

By the way, great work! The best of both worlds finally blended in the same package :). Thanks!

Are people mostly on 1.1 now? 1.1 is still unusable for me because the nodes don’t populate. 1.17 has significant issues with multi profiles for me and not logging in new users when switching profiles, not updating watch lists when watching things, and not updating widgets when watching things. Just wondering how others in my situation are doing – if people have it working I’ll nuke my openelec installation and start over.

I’m still on 1.0.17 as I can’t get 1.1 to work at all. I’ve submitted my logs so I’m just patiently waiting for a update. I’m in no rush though because 1.0.17 works flawlessly for me.

Main family system is on 1.0.17. Test system on 1.1.

1.0.17 here. Never even attempted 1.1 even though the fixes were tailor made for my issues (high cpu load). I don’t use multiple profiles so I’ve not had to deal with that at all. My big issue with 1.0.17 right now is the missing movie/show information which knocks out being able to use any add on that utilizes the context menus like Extended Info etc.

I think we all got so used to the daily updates @croneter was providing us that now it almost seems like develop has been dropped even though it’s been what, 2 days?

I am also still on 1.0.17 as many bugs were reported on the new version

Ouch,

Just found a major issue in PKC. There is no ability to send magic packets to wake the server. I shutdown my server nightly at 11pm. This ensures that if I or anyone doesnt use it for a day or more, it doesnt sit there and suck up power. Because its a very large server, it uses lots of power so this is important. Can you please add magic packet support in so that the server doesnt have to run 24 x7 x 365.

Thanks
Al

This is a windows server running W2k12 R2 with WOL support and ILO support.

I’m using 1.0.16 as I’ve found that to run perfectly for me.

A few people reported issues on 1.0.17 so I skipped that. I tried 1.1 but had PKC connect error and my library wouldn’t populate (logs submitted to Cronoter.)
