PlexWeb errors out every time a show completes

Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 4.66.1
Running the plex web player in chrome on windows 10 64-bit.

I have had this issue for a long time now, and I am now starting to see it in my shield pro. Can we please get to the bottom of why after every show completes, I get the following message?
image

Everytime. no matter what channel or time of day. Please, PLEASE. I just want a player that doesn’t have audio sync’ing issues, and continues to play livetv until I am finished watching tv. Why is this so hard to accomplish? Here are my server logs. Go to the top of every hour, and that is when the issue is reproduced, Or at the bottom of every hour too in the case of me watching a 30 minute show…

Thanks,
Chris

Did I miss something? No response yet??

hello? Anybody? Another week has gone by and no response?? What does a paying customer have to do to get a response around here? Please. This is super frustrating for my family and I.

it is livetv-steaming or livetv-dvr?

hmm. streaming I think? I am watching livetv. Not a recording. both on webclient and on the shield.
Not that it really matters, watching from the dvr doesn’t work that great either, nor does trying to watch a show from live tv while it is being recorded… Or partly through a non-recorded show. when you choose livetv versus watching from start etc. But let’s just focus on getting the shield app back to a working state where we can watch tv for more than one session for more than an hour please.

By streaming I mean the free stuff we offer with the commercials that is unrelated to the server with a tuner. You used both tags so just trying to be sure which we are talking about.

OH, I applogize. No. I have 3 hdhomerun Prime tuners and have comcast cable. So then this is livetv-dvr. I guess the streaming tag can be removed.

bump as it has been another week now. @BigWheel, any updates?

Bump for further progress? Please? @BigWheel? If you are supporting your strange streaming live tv stuff, can you please have somebody whom supports the dvr side to respond? This is super frustrating always having the show stop after it completes. I just need this fixed. What am I missing here to get a response from plex. I am a paying customer.

Hmm I think I am having the same issue as this thread:

Trying the beta android app now.

So for whatever reason. I can’t go more than 3 minutes now with the web client before I get the playback error. Here are current logs from this.Plex Media Server Logs_2021-11-02_07-04-44.zip (4.6 MB)

PLEASE, can I get a response from plex support? I’ve been more than patient here.

This seems to have helped the android side a little. Still seeing some issues where it stops, but nothing like it was.

I recently upgraded Plex server (Linux) to new v1.24.5.5173. After the upgrade, we’ve been getting “The live TV session has ended” on multiple player platforms. The error reoccurs every few minutes. I rolled back to v1.24.4.5081 and the problem went away. This sort of issue seems to pop up with new versions of players and servers from time to time. This certainly isn’t the first time!

Yep. I rolled back, and it is working better now. Getting so tired of this crap from Plex, and then it seems as though they just don’t care about their customers.

I hear you! That’s why I didn’t even bother taking the time to report the problem on here when the rollback (apparently) fixed it for now. Feels like your talking to yourself. A simple “we are investigating the problem,” "we’ve identified the problem and are working on it, “or we need more details” goes a long way.

I’m sorry I lost track of this topic. We are investigating it.

I am curious that it was first reported with server version 1.24.3.5033, mentioned it worked when rolling back to 1.24.4.5081 but then broke again in v1.24.5.5173.

Was curious if 1.24.4.5081 worked for you as well @hamish_18

Me too. How does one “roll back” besides keeping old versions locally.

I didn’t roll back to 5081, but can try it. From another thread I found that going back to 1.24.2.4973. Which is a build that made plex crash for me every few days. But I can watch plex for at least the showing that is currently on again, instead of stopping literally every 3 minutes. I will do that right now and report back whether it works for me or not.

@mfalcian, I use unraid and docker. So what I do, which may not work for you, is to go in and edit the plex docker.
There are a couple lines if you choose advanced settings that you can use:

The first will say plexin/pms-docker:public, or beta. You put the version there you want to go to like in my screenshot.

You can get all the builds from the Docker Hub URL. In there you click the tags tab up top, and just scroll down, and find which build you want to go to that is available. So I am in there right now, and am going to edit my Repo from the 1.24.2.4973-2b1b51db9 to the suggested 5081 build which is: 1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee

You then click apply and the docker will download that build and start using it.

Ok @BigWheel, I am on build 5081 now.

@BigWheel, it appears that 5081 does not cause the web client to quite playing livetv every 3 minutes. I’ll report back after this current show is over, and the next one starts. This I believe still occurs with this build though.
