Plex for Windows does not support passthough audio.
Plex Media Player does support passthrough audio.
To configure PMP for passthrough, you must be in “TV Mode,” not “Desktop Mode.”
To switch to TV Mode, click on the box with “TV” inside in upper right, near status, etc icons.
Click on your username, select Settings.
Note: When navigating TV Mode, PMP does not always respond to mouse movements/clicks. You will have to use arrow keys and enter/return for some selections.
Choose Audio.
Change Device Type to HDMI, Channels to 5.1/7.1, Device Type to appropriate detected device (receiver, TV, etc).
Select Exclusive Mode to prevent other apps from interfering when using PMP.
Pick which audio codecs you wish to passthrough.
