PMS connected manually to iOS app always shows as offline

Server Version#: 1.25.3.5409
Player Version#: 7.27

I have my PMS conifgured to no allow remote access and not to use automatic discovery.
The PMS allows the home network to connect without authorization.
I want to use the Plex iOS app to watch content when in my home network.
So I added the PMS as a manual connection, and the connection as accepted by the app.

However, the server shows up as offline, so no libraries can be seen or selected.

When I start the app, it does not even try to connect to the PMS (used wireshark to see what is going on).

What else can I do to make this work?

(No, I do not wish to enable remote access. I am looking for a solution that works with the settings I described at the beginning of my post.)

So you have both?

  • Secure Networks set to preferred
  • LAN networks specified with the subnet(s) of your local LAN(s)

Yes I do.

The solution was to announce the IP:Port of the PMS explicitly Settings > Network > Custom server access URLs. (Seemlingly the PMS announces the container IP to plex.tv, not the host ip.)
