PMS crashing because of the transcoder

Feeling the same way, there is a repeatable issue from the Mac guys. Would love for Plex to at least wave at us, I’ve been stuck on 1.22.3.4392 since posting this -

Bumping this up… Please Plex staff, just a quick “we know you are there and we care” would be enough by the moment.

I got response here

Crashing daily.

not sure this is related, but does anyone in this thread use infuse on their clients?

I do not personally use infuse, but some of my shared users could be using it… wondering if there is a way to confirm?

No Infuse client on my side. Also, no commercials to skip in my content.

No infuse here

@drzoidberg33 any chance in some tech support on this issue? Essentially the 1.23 branch for many of us on MacOS isn’t working. Transcoder activity causes a PMS crash. Would love a set of eyes on it. Thanks!

fair to say this issue isn’t going away

Yep… :man_shrugging:t2:

Left it a week on public update channel to use 1.22.3.4523, but now getting prompted to update. is this still an issue on 1.23.2.4656? Thanks.

As of a week ago it was. yes.

thanks, took the plunge - it was supposed to be a stable release after all - and concluded the same, plex still completely dying overnight, have gone back to 1.22.3.4523 :frowning:

Now that we are no more talking about a beta version, this should be covered right away by Plex support, right? I do not understand this abandonment with us when solving a bug for the Amazon Fire TV took less than 24 hours. I think Mac is used by quite a bunch of people around the Globe, ain’t it?

Is anyone there???

I wish they’d at least say something.

This is resolved for me. @Afullmark’s post put me on the right track. Hope this is helpful for you.

Turned hardware acceleration on and everything seems stable again. So yeah, it seems solved. However, a post-mortem would be really appreciated.

Thanks for reporting @Lexingtonian !

Happy to help. Wanted this one put to bed.

Still experiencing server crashes when certain users attempt to play media. Although iOS/tvOS devices do not crash on the same media file… with HW Transcode disabled, all plays fine on every client. Turn it on, and specific user’s clients crash the server…

not sure if I am missing a troubleshooting step!?

You’re basically showing us that the transcoder crashed. …which is what we’re all experiencing. Question is what caused the crash? What does your Plex Media Server.log say once its crashed? What was the last 200 lines in the log? (the last few lines after a crash should be a strong indicator)
