Here’s the easiest way I can think to describe what’s happening. I have a music library on an external hard drive.
I add a folder to the music library, say “ZZ Top” for example. PMS automatically scans and adds the album I have there.
I add a second folder, “Zombie, Rob”. PMS scans and adds entries from that folder. I now have two artists and their corresponding entries appearing.
I add a third folder “Zebrahead”. During the scan for this folder, little red trash cans appear over the entries for “Zombie, Rob” and “ZZ Top”. At the end of the scan, those two artists disappear and I am left with only one artist in the library, “Zebrahead”.
I go into Manage Library and Edit… In the Add Folders, the entries for ZZ Top and Zombie, Rob have been removed and there is only entry remaining, Zebrahead.
Why is this? All of these folders are in the same parent, on the same drive and the drive has not been disconnected or powered off.
Clearly Zebrahead is the dominant artist, and both ZZ Top and Rob Zombie are running away…
Do you have a crazy number of folders monitored in your Library? I’m not aware of any limits, but I’ve never heard of anybody adding folders per artist, either.
Can you reproduce this with a small library, Folder A, Folder B, Folder C? I’ll try to reproduce it myself.
I just started experimenting with the Music library function of PMS recently and thought I would try to add a couple of artist folders to see how it went. My plan eventually was to add folders by letter (artists in A, B, C, etc). Zebrahead has 14 subfolders, 1 for each album I have. ‘Zombie, Rob’ has 16 subfolders, with one of them having two subfolders of its own (CD1 and CD2). ‘ZZ Top’ has 1 subfolder.
I’ll try to reproduce it at my end with other folders.
I have the same thing happening but with TV Series Library. Did everything suggested on Plex forums. As you stated I add the first series …looks good. Add second…looks good. The third while scanning trashes the first two. Red trash cans on them. If I click on them …nothing. The file is still on my external drive. But Plex won’t play them. At one point I thought I had fixed it. I had added about 10 different series folders. added back…and then one by one the other nine are deleted after applying red trash cans on them. Finally gave up until I saw a suggestion to use NetDrive3 . I had no idea what I was doing. Couldn’t figure it out at first. Finally did something right and it worked. I added 13 TV series to the newly mounted G drive. They all work perfectly. Checked them out on my TV and they all work nicely. For a year subscription I think it is like $13.95. I am in my first day of a 7 day free trial. I see a few negative reviews about this app but I am up and running and family can watch my stuff. Funny thing was my movie folder was never affected by scans after adding or deleting movies. I have them separated now movies on one external drive…TV series on another. Plus the mounted NetDrive3 .
