Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#: (Multiple - iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Android TV)
Something has just started happening to my server where CPU is running extremely high (but not transcoding anything) - even direct playing a simple 1080p movie. Even after pausing a movie PMS will sit running at 50-60% CPU before it eventually starts coming down after a few minutes.
Here’s a prime example of the issue. CPU did start to fall over time but then eventually climbed again. No other sessions are active (I even disabled remote access). There are no scheduled tasks running and I’ve disabled any kind of credit detection, etc.
Any ideas as to how to find out WTF my server is doing?!
I believe I have this resolved now. Somehow the Plex database seemed to have gotten corrupted. Tried using the DB tools to check but those didn’t resolve it. I restored a backup from a couple of days ago and all is working as expected again.
Check the time of the scheduled server maintenance. You may have run into the scheduled start time inadvertently. During server maintenance, the server can run some pretty CPU-intensive tasks.
Be sure to run the database repair with the restored DB backups as well.
